I have wide research interests, mainly including artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, pattern recognition, evolutionary computation, and neural computation, among which machine learning and data mining are my core research areas.
Currently I am particularly interested in the following ML/DM topics:
- Ensemble learning
- Semi-supervised learning
- Multi-instance and multi-label learning
- Cost-sensitive and class-imbalance learning
- Dimensionality reduction and feature selection
For applications of ML/DM, I am mainly interested in the following areas:
- Content-based image retrieval
- Web search and mining
- Face recognition
- Computer-aided medical diagnosis
For potentially useful techniques in ML/DM, I am also interested in:
- Theoretical aspects of evolutionary computation
- Improving comprehensibility (of complicated learning systems such as neural networks)
Research is for fun. If something outside the list attracts me and I feel I can do something, the above list will grow; if something on the list does not attract me any more, the above list will shrink. In short, these are just my current interests.
